PHMS First Day Updates & Reminders

Hi Panther Families,

Welcome to the first day of school! The kids are doing great and getting settled in. Over the weekend, some schedule changes were made to balance classes and be sure all students were in the correct classes. Don't worry, as we are helping your kiddo find their way. All students received a printed schedule when they arrived at school today.

Below you will find an updated traffic map. Please note that PHMS' entrance and exit are now off of Sweetwater. You can access Sweetwater from 175th avenue and Cotton Lane (off of Waddell). We were informed by Surprise PD that there was no traffic backup when using Cotton Lane to access Sweetwater. This may be a new route to explore! If you would like to park, you will still enter off of Sweetwater. Our entrance to our parking lot is right in front of the school. The entrance to this lot is on the right, just after you pass our front crosswalks. To leave the PHMS parking lot, you will join the traffic flow and exit using Sweetwater.  Please remember that the entrance off 175th avenue is for high school drivers only. Please do not part in any numbered spot, as this is a spot reserved for PHHS students. Many of our PHHS students arrive early, and you don't want to take their assigned spot.

Lastly, some pick-up tips.
  • Do not come too early; arriving too early causes longer lines and back-up on the street, preventing families from reaching our parking lot for early check-out needs.
  • Students will come out to the North Doors & Cafe Doors and be supervised for pick-up IN the BACK of PHMS. Please still pull up AS FAR AS YOU CAN. Your child can walk to you.
  • If your child is walking or bike riding, they will use the sidewalk along Sweetwater as their entrance and exit. We have a crossing guard to help cross at Sweetwater and 175th avenue. Please set the expectation that your child uses sidewalks only and not cut through parking lots and/or jaywalk across 175th avenue.

Thank you for your patience over the next two weeks as everyone finds their drop-off and pick-up groove. We are grateful that you have made PHMS your school of choice.

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!

Sincerely,
